Sherbrooke, September 8, 2020 – The Phœnix unveiled its roster for the 2020-2021 season. Nine new players are entering the ranks of Stéphane Julien. The team, made up of twenty-four players divided into nine defensemen, thirteen forwards and two goaltenders, will therefore be able to count on a core of veterans.
This year, only 34 players were present at training camp to try to carve out a place on the team.
“We really enjoyed the commitment of our veterans at the start of training camp. They had worked very hard and they arrived at camp in good shape. As for the younger players, we had a good competition for the positions available. It was not an easy choice, but we made some though decisions at the end of training camp”, commented Stéphane Julien, head coach and now general manager of the team.
Nine new players will take their debut in the QMJHL: Jasmin Simon, Pavel Grishin, Christophe Rondeau, Maxime Blanchard, Vincent Trudel, Colin Ratt, Karl Vaillancourt, Jaheem Lagacé-Aurélien and Jean-Raphaël Roy.
“This year again, we have a good core of veteran players familiar with our team’s culture. We end up with a roster that offers a good mix of mature veterans and young players who are eager to learn. We are maintaining a stability while adding a touch of new blood”, says Stéphane Julien.
