The Phoenix faced the Armada for a second time this weekend and… suffered their second setback of the season. The Blainville “fleet” handed another loss to Stéphane Julien’s men, this time 4-2.
The Phoenix did not get the desired start to the game they wanted, unlike their opponent who scored on their first shot of the game. Miguël Tourigny (Alexis Gendron) scored, adding a third goal to his stats against the Phoenix since Friday. Benjamin Corbeil (Luke Henman and Miguël Tourigny) then doubled the lead with a powerplay goal while Christophe Rondeau was in the box. Israel Mianscum answered back for the Phoenix when he scored off the face-off, won by Anthony Munroe-Boucher. Bailey Peach was given a major penalty along with a game-misconduct after hitting Yaroslav Likhachev from behind.
In the second period, the Phoenix took advantage of a 5 against 3 powerplay. Xavier Parent (and Patrick Guay) spotted Samuel Poulin at the top of left circle. The captain beat goaltender Olivier Adam with a powerful and precise “one-timer”.
The tie lasted until the last minutes of the game. Zachary Roy (Andrew Belchamber) gave the victory to his team with just over 2 minutes remaining. Yaroslav Likhachev (Tommy Bouchard) completed the scoring with an empty net goal. Final score: 4-2
